Bricklaying Courses
The plasteringworkshop.co.uk also offers intensive bricklaying courses that teach the basics of bricklaying. By keeping the course numbers down to a minimum, we are able to give more individual attention throughout the course. Students who attended the bricklaying courses will have sufficient knowledge to enable them to achieve a professional finish. This does not mean that a student will become a fully proficient bricklayer overnight. Don't forget, all our instructors have been plastering years!
Start 9.15am Finish 4.30pm
1 Day Bricklaying Course: £179.00
The 1 day bricklaying course at The Plastering Workshop covers the basic techniques required to achieve professional results including: Tools for the job. Setting out. Laying bricks to a line. Building corners. Building piers. Face brickwork (jointing & pointing). All tuition is on a practical basis. The day starts with practising basic trowel control. You will then be taught how to apply a joint and will lay bricks to a line. Following lunch you will then progress on to corners and piers. With a maximum of 3 students per course, you will have plenty of individual time with the instructor to discuss your own personal projects if required. This course is ideal for those wishing to erect a garden wall, BBQ or brick up windows or doorways etc.
Day 1 start time 9.15am, finish 4.00pm / Day 2 start time 9.00am, finish 4.00pm
2 Day Bricklaying Course: £289.00
The 2 day course is similar to the 1 day but goes into more depth. Once a student is able to lay bricks to a line, build a corner & build a pier, we then go onto setting up a blockwork cavity wall, including a damp proof course (DPC), installing a window with a lintel over & running in a straight arch over the opening. The 2 day course is ideal for those wishing to build a small extension or conservatory wall for example.
Start 9.00 am, Finish 4.00 pm
3 Day Bricklaying Courses: £389.00
The 3rd day is where you get to do more individual work. you can choose to set out and form a curved wall, build a freestanding pier or you may wish to attempt a solid Flemish bond garden wall, the choice is yours.

Thoroughly worthwhile day. Gained the confidence to carry out the work on my own property and for my own construction business. I will definately be putting the experience to good use. Thank you for the day.

We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would highly recommend other plastering novices to have a go. The day was fun, extremely informative and left us feeling confident enough to plaster the walls in our garage.
